On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, CES traditionally holds the annual “Grandparents’ & Special Friends’ Day.” This year, over 160 visitors attended the event! The day included breakfast, classroom visits, and a chapel service with student musical performances. During the classroom visits, teachers prepared special interactive lessons for the students to share with their special guests. A particularly active lesson was Sra. Johnson’s Louder! We are so proud of our Cardinals for finishing the 2023-2024 season undefeated! They faced opponents including Bullis, Woods Academy, Sandy Spring Friends School, Norwood, St. John’s Episcopal School, and Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences. Head of School, Nicole Stone, wrote in a recent newsletter, “What an amazing feat! On Monday, October 16th, Mrs. Kesner’s 7th Grade Advisory Class hosted a Bake Sale and raised $193.43 for Shepherd’s Table. Shepherd’s Table supports individuals experiencing homelessness and hunger by addressing issues of food insecurity and poverty through a variety of programs. The 7th Grade is planning to use the funds they raised to make homemade casseroles for the organization. On Wednesday, October 18th, they are planning to meet up to make the casseroles and deliver them fresh to Shepherd’s Table in Silver Spring, MD. September 15, 2023 As part of our new electives program in the Middle School, CES students may choose between Study Hall, Financial Literacy, Art, and Yoga. This student yoga class is taught by CES parent and Registered Yoga Teacher, Mrs. Kami Boyle. Evidence shows that practicing yoga, meditation, and breathing exercises help to reduce stress and boost the body’s immune response. August 31, 2023 Ralph Waldo Emerson told us, “Earth laughs in flowers.” At CES, our students bring us joy and make us laugh and smile every day, so how fitting it is to incorporate growing flowers and growing minds! Today, our Lower School students got an up close and personal look at the flowers and gardens on campus. Led by retired CES science teacher, Mrs. Barbara Fennelly, they toured the campus on a “nature walk” to learn about gardening and plant science. February 27, 2023 The Christ Episcopal School Student Council has announced an ambitious plan to give back to the greater Rockville community, in partnership with Christ Episcopal Church! Over the next few months, the Christ Episcopal Community will be collecting donations of various items such as food, clothing, and school supplies in preparation for a “community shop” to be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023. November 4, 2022 In October, the Christ Episcopal School 1st Grade Class held a week-long bake sale to raise money for American Humane, an organization working to rescue and provide critical care to animals in need. After learning about the devastation from Hurricane Ian, 1st Grade was inspired to help out. October 20, 2022 CES is so excited for the launch of the 2022-23 Annual Fund campaign! We hope you enjoy this video message from our students. 2022-2023 is the first year that CES has launched its Annual Fund with a video message alongside the traditional mailing. So far, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and the video received hundreds of views within the first 24 hours.
