Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
As expressed in our mission statement, Christ Episcopal School welcomes and affirms students, families, and staff from all gender, ethnic, racial, sexual, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds and identities. Christ Episcopal School fully implements all relevant Federal, State, and local requirements by law, as well as non-discrimination requirements set forth by the Episcopal Church and our accreditation through the Association of Independent Maryland & DC Schools (AIMS).
To enhance the educational experience of all of its students, Christ Episcopal School is dedicated to building initiatives to reach out to the diverse community surrounding the school in its recruitment of students, faculty, and staff. Ultimately, CES seeks to build a school community that is representative of the greater local community.

DEI in Action
With over 60% students of color, Christ Episcopal School is one of the most racially diverse independent schools in the area. However, we seek diversity of all kinds and work to create a school environment that accepts and affirms multiple perspectives and circumstances. Some recent initiatives to continue to encourage this understanding include the following:
Easted Middle School Student Diversity Conferences
Student leaders were chosen to represent their peers at CES and attend the conferences. They shared insights and action items with CES students upon their return. Participation was voluntary.
Teacher DEI Mentors
A middle school and lower school faculty member representative serve as DEI mentors for all staff and faculty at CES. They attend seminars, organize discussions, and seek out new initiatives that can be implemented at CES.
