Christ Episcopal School Announces New Mission for 60th School Year

Christ Episcopal School is celebrating its 60th school year this year. CES has come a long way since its founding as Christ Episcopal Day School in 1966. Originally beginning in 1947 as a cooperative Christian kindergarten led by parents at Christ Episcopal Church, the school gained the respect of the community. Higher grades were steadily added as students matriculated. In 1966, it formally became known as Christ Episcopal Day School, and in 1975, graduated its first 8th grade class. Christ Episcopal School Shines at This Year’s MAESA Scholars’ Fair

Christ Episcopal School students have a little extra to celebrate. They won medals in six categories at this year’s MAESA Scholars’ Fair! This annual academic competition brings together 4th-8th grade students from schools throughout the mid-Atlantic region. Organized by the Mid-Atlantic Episcopal Schools Association (MAESA) and held at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School in Washington, D.C., this year’s contest saw over 200 students from 13 area schools. CES Students Perform at National Cathedral for MAESA Celebration

On October 15th, our 3rd and 4th grade students attended the Mid-Atlantic Episcopal Schools Association’s (MAESA) Episcopal Schools celebration at the Washington National Cathedral. Thirteen area schools attended this student-led service and festival, which included student readers, banner bearers, and singers. Christ Episcopal School was one of the choirs featured. CES Wins Big in Washington Parent Picks 2025

Christ Episcopal School is proud to announce our awards from the 2025 Washington Parent Picks contest! Voting took place in two stages this summer: a nomination round in May and a voting round in July. During both sessions, our community nominated/voted for CES daily through an online platform. According to Washington Parent Magazine, “With more than 22,300 nominations in May and over 31,000 votes cast in July, parents and caregivers across the D.C. area came out in full force to cheer on the businesses and professionals who make family life better.” You can see all the results from the 2025…

Christ Episcopal Students Win Big at 2025 MAESA Scholars’ Fair

Christ Episcopal School students won big at the annual Mid-Atlantic Episcopal Schools Association (MAESA) Scholars’ Fair last Friday! CES took home medals in Art, Geography Bee, Spelling Bee, Math, Multimedia Presentation, and the Science Fair. In fact, CES swept the 7th-8th Grade Science Fair category and won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place! This year’s MAESA Scholars’ Fair — an annual academic competition among Washington-area Episcopal Schools — saw over 200 students from 11 schools showcase their academic abilities. CES Staff Member Makes Bethesda Magazine List of MoCo Notables

CES Director of Development and Alumni Relations, Cyndy Mamalian, has been named one of Bethesda Magazine’s “7 MoCo notables you need to know!” This recognition comes from the recent publication of her book, Scratch My Itch: A Caregiver’s Honest, Humorous, and Healing Stories About the Horrors of ALS. Cyndy and the Mamalian Family have been a part of the CES community for many years. Before joining the staff in 2022, Cyndy was a CES parent. Her three children, Alexandra (’15), Matthew (’18) and Juliette (’21) are all graduates of Christ Episcopal School, and her husband, Paul, was on the CES…

Christ Episcopal School Recognized Among 2025 Best Schools in America

We are proud to announce that CES has been recognized as one of the Best Schools in America by Niche, a national school search platform! As a top area school, we have been awarded an A+ rating based on several factors, including academic performance, extracurricular activity opportunities, data from sources like the U.S. Department of Education, and user input from current students, alumni and parents. CES Alum Joins Ballet West’s Pre-Professional Training Program

CES Cardinals use their wings to fly after graduation! Juliette Mamalian (’21) will be joining the Pre-Professional Training Division of the Ballet West Academy in Salt Lake City, Utah this fall. Her mother, Cyndy Mamalian, writes, “After spending five weeks at Ballet West this summer, she is eager to continue training and dancing with this amazing company!” Juliette spent time this summer at Ballet West’s Summer Intensive, a program recognized as one of the top in the nation. CES Celebrates Class of 2024

On June 7th, we honored the CES 8th grade graduating class with our annual Graduation & Baccalaureate Ceremony. In CES tradition, the service was filled with award announcements, special remarks, musical offerings, and a gift of portraits painted by the 8th graders’ Kindergarten chapel partners. During the ceremony, each student also presented a speech entitled, “What CES Means to Me.” Graduates mentioned favorite moments from their time at CES, thanked their teachers, and gave heartfelt insights into how they have grown as individuals. These speeches inevitably brought us to tears of joy as faculty, staff, and parents listened to each…
