Christ Episcopal School is celebrating its 60th school year this year. CES has come a long way since its founding as Christ Episcopal Day School in 1966. Originally beginning in 1947 as a cooperative Christian kindergarten led by parents at Christ Episcopal Church, the school gained the respect of the community. Higher grades were steadily added as students matriculated. In 1966, it formally became known as Christ Episcopal Day School, and in 1975, graduated its first 8th grade class.
Now in its 60th school year, a new mission statement has been developed which, as Head of School, Nicole Stone, puts it, “reflects all that we strive to be here at Christ Episcopal School.”
Grounded in the Episcopal tradition, Christ Episcopal School inspires academic excellence and integrity, and nurtures curious and compassionate students in a community where every person is known and valued.
CES would like to thank the community who shared feedback and participated in the revision process. After thorough drafting and refining, the Board of Trustees officially approved the new mission statement at their August meeting.
The new mission also helped CES identify four core values at the heart of the school, and determine six Cardinal Character Traits for students that bring the mission and values to life.
Our mission is our purpose. It is why we are here and what we are called to do. Our core values reflect what we believe as a community. And our character traits bring it all to life, guiding how we put our mission and values into action in the way we live, learn, serve, and engage with the world around us.
Christ Episcopal School is proud to have a concise, memorable mission statement that truly reflects the modern Christ Episcopal School while honoring its 60+ year history.
