About the Position
Christ Episcopal School, a supportive community and academically strong private school serving students from Preschool through grade 8, is seeking a long-term substitute teacher for our kindergarten classroom. This position will run from April 2026 through January 2027, providing continuity and stability for our youngest learners during this transition period.
The ideal candidate will be interested in joining our collaborative school community, providing a positive and challenging learning experience for each student, using differentiated learning strategies, integrating technology into the curriculum, and embodying the spirit of our diverse and welcoming school community.

Position Responsibilities
The long-term substitute will:
- Maintain continuity of instruction and classroom routines established by the regular classroom teacher
- Implement lesson plans and curriculum aligned with Christ Episcopal School’s educational philosophy
- Build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of kindergarten students
- Use assessment data to inform instruction and track student progress
- Integrate technology meaningfully into daily instruction
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress and classroom activities
- Collaborate with grade-level colleagues and support staff
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events as scheduled
- Create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment where all students can thrive
- Support students’ social-emotional development alongside academic growth
Required Qualifications
- Education: Undergraduate degree in early childhood education, elementary education, or related field (master’s preferred)
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of classroom teaching experience (kindergarten or early elementary preferred)
- Certification: Valid teaching license/certification preferred but not required for substitute position
- Instructional Knowledge: Understanding of and ability to instruct using the Science of Reading principles
- Technology Skills: Experience integrating technology into classroom instruction
- Differentiation: Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction across subject areas to meet varied student needs
