Do you love working with kids? Are you a creative leader looking to plan your own program? Christ Episcopal School is seeking an After School Program Director to provide a safe, enriching extended day experience for students in our after school program, Cardinal Club, for Preschool through 8th grade. In addition, this person will assist our teachers before the after school program, making this a full-time role.

We are a small, warm community of educators and families in the heart of Rockville. The Director will create opportunities for students to channel their curiosity, energy, and exuberance into a variety of activities after the school day is over.


Director of After Care (2pm – 6pm)

  • Planning and supervising enriching, hands-on after school activities
  • Maintaining inventory of supplies, games, and equipment.
  • Coordinating enrichment classes with outside vendors
  • Providing effective communication with parents, both in person and digitally (newsletters, emails, etc.)
  • Ensuring that the after school program is in compliance with state and local child care regulations
  • Managing Cardinal Club data, childcare management software (Ultracamp), and maintaining accurate paperwork for students and staff
  • Negotiating activities with vendors
  • Building positive relationships with students and staff
  • Guiding students in the resolution of conflicts or concerns and address discipline issues in an age-appropriate, restorative manner
  • Managing a team of assistants and coordinate their hours

Floating Teacher Assistant (10am – 2pm)

  • Fill in as a substitute teacher when teachers are out or need bathroom breaks
  • Assist with small group work in math and reading
  • Assist with science lab set ups and clean ups
  • Help to create and decorate bulletin boards and wall displays
  • Make photocopies and laminated materials as needed
  • Perform assigned duties such as recess and lunch duties

A qualified candidate will have/demonstrate:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Completion of 6 semester credit hours (90 clock hours) of early childhood or elementary education coursework
  • Experience working with elementary and middle school aged school children
  • Excellent organization and communication skills and detail orientation
  • Team player with a positive, “self-starter” attitude

Successful candidates for all positions at CES must successfully complete a required background check.
